About the Artists Behind Flowerness Farm
Inspired by history, Melinda Kirkpatrick is a New England artist who utilizes found and used materials and re-purposed media and frames for her paintings to give them a unique distressed look. She considers found materials to be an integral part of the artwork.
Doug Kirkpatrick is working on developing exciting new products, including a work of fiction about a secret mermaid societe, in collaboration with Melinda, who is doing the art and illustrations. Stay tuned for more information!
Inspired by History and Literature
Now living in Brimfield, Melinda grew up in central Massachusetts surrounded by beautiful flower gardens cultivated by her mother, who is also an artist. Melinda utilizes a unique use of color and natural design to create charming and evocative images rooted in local history and literature. Her paintings often include descriptive captions or quotes from literature. Often, Melinda paints subjects on Old New England Barn Board and Antique Architectural Pieces found at the Brimfield Antique Shows.
