Welcome to Flowerness Farm—
Flowerness (noun): The quality of being a flower; a sanctuary for art, creativity, and beauty in Brimfield, Massachusetts.
Each day we remind ourselves that we are all blessed, stewards of the Earth, here for a brief time, caretakers of hope and faith…
Opening Doors to Flowerness and Beauty
We awaken to a new and very beautiful morning each day at our little farmhouse in Brimfield, Massachusetts, only minutes away from the Brimfield Antique shows, where we work on growing flowers and herbs and creating art just for you! We named our little farm, "Flowerness Farm," after being inspired by the poets of the Beat Generation and the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen master, poet, and peace activist. The Beat poets spoke of the "Flowerness of the moment," an experience of supreme consciousness, of essence, of beauty. A flower is a symbol of spiritual transformation. In his four pebbles of meditation, Thich Nhat Hanh speaks of the "flowerness" in us all, both young and old. In his teachings, the Universe is viewed as a single flower, and each of us is also a beautiful flower, impermanent, but fresh and vital. Many people can lose their "flowerness," over time because they have allowed sorrow and worry to destroy their freshness. Thich Nhat Hanh had a practice he employed to restore flowerness. It is very simple, like the beauty of a flower. Breathe in, see yourself as a flower; don't just imagine yourself to be a flower, actually be the flower...breathe out, feel the freshness. In doing so, you have restored your flowerness and you are beautiful again. We are beautiful every time we restore our flowerness. Practice this each and every day! By doing this you not only benefit, but so does everyone. Thich Nhat Hanh said that if you can be a flower, you can serve the world. What a beautiful message, and we hope to do our part here at Flowerness Farm in everything we do! Breathe in, Breathe out....be the flower, beautiful and good!
We purchased this little farm in need of love in historic Brimfield, Massachusetts, in 2020 to be closer to the fields at the Brimfield Antique Shows, which run three times a year, and to help develop it as a place of heightened creativity for creating all kinds of art and a habitat for pollinators and wildlife. We set up at the Brimfield Antique Shows at Quaker Acre Acres - Booth 31-32 at all three shows. We have been working on restoring the farmhouse and grounds every day. Our homespun art has gained grassroots support, and now our art is featured in retail outlets throughout the East Coast. In addition to the Brimfield Antique Shows, we plan on doing small art shows here at Flowerness Farm in the future.
